Signature image vs. electronic signature: what's the difference?
The image you create here reproduces your handwritten signature: you insert it into a Word document, a PDF or an email, much like signing a sheet of paper with a pen and scanning it. That's enough for many everyday documents: approving a quote, a permission slip, a simple letter or form to send back. In the US, the ESIGN Act and UETA generally give electronic signatures legal effect, but some documents are excluded, such as wills, and a recipient can require a dedicated e-signature service that verifies your identity and keeps an audit trail.
