Where are your notes saved?
In your browser, on your device, using a storage space that every website can use ("local storage"). Nothing goes through a server: your text never leaves your computer or phone, and no one else can read it over the internet. The trade-off is that notes stay tied to that specific browser: they won't show up on your phone if you wrote them on your computer, or in a different browser on the same device. They're also deleted if you clear the site's browsing data, or when you close a private browsing window. For important text, keep a copy: the "Download .txt" button creates a file you can store wherever you like.
What can you use an online notepad for?
For anything you need to jot down quickly without opening an app: a grocery list, a reference number read out over the phone, a draft of a tricky email, ideas during a meeting, a text to proofread before posting it. The word and character counter helps you stay within a limit, such as 280 characters for a short post or 500 words for a cover letter. The notepad also works as a clean-up zone: paste text copied from a web page or a PDF and it loses all its formatting (bold, colors, links), leaving you with plain text ready to paste cleanly anywhere else.
Tips and keyboard shortcuts
Ctrl + F (Cmd + F on Mac) while you're writing in the note puts the cursor in the search box; if a word is selected, it's searched right away. Enter jumps to the next match, Shift + Enter to the previous one, and Esc takes you back to the text. Ctrl + S forces a save and skips the browser's "Save page" dialog. The A− and A+ buttons set the text size from 12 to 34 pixels, handy for writing on a big screen or reading without glasses. Uncheck "Word wrap" for lists or code with long lines, and choose the monospaced font to line up columns. To pick up an old file, "Open .txt" loads it into a new note.

Are my notes private?
Yes. They're saved only in your browser, on your device. No note is sent over the internet, and there's no account or server storing them.
Will I lose my notes if I close the page?
No: they're saved automatically and you'll find them when you come back to the page in the same browser. However, they're deleted if you clear the site's browsing data or if you write in a private window.
Can I access my notes on another device?
Not directly, since nothing is stored online. Download the note as a .txt file, send the file to yourself, then open it with "Open .txt" on the other device.
How much text can I save?
Browsers usually set aside a few megabytes per site, which is thousands of pages of text. If the storage is full, a message appears: download the notes you want to keep a copy of, then delete them to free up space.
What happens if the page is open in two tabs?
Both tabs stay in sync: a note created, renamed or deleted in one appears in the other, and the text updates whenever you're not typing in it.
