Online Whiteboard

A whiteboard for explaining things, in class or in meetings

The online whiteboard is useful anywhere you explain by drawing: a teacher working through a problem on a video call by sharing their screen, a student redrawing a science diagram, a team mapping out a project, a parent showing how to do long addition. Choose the grid background for geometry or math, the lined background for writing, and the blackboard if you're projecting in a room: light text on a dark background is easy to read from a distance. The whiteboard isn't collaborative in real time: it stays on your device. To show it to others, share your screen or send the exported image.

Drawing with a finger, stylus or mouse

On a tablet or phone, one finger draws and two fingers pinch to zoom or slide to move the board. With a stylus, stroke thickness follows pressure if your device passes it to the browser, and your palm resting on the screen is ignored as soon as the stylus has been detected. With a mouse, hold the space bar or the middle button to move the view, and use Ctrl + mouse wheel to zoom. The highlighter is translucent: it colors a word or an area without hiding what's underneath. The eraser works like a real eraser, and every eraser stroke can be undone with Ctrl+Z, just like everything else.

Saving, exporting and getting your drawing back

Every change is saved automatically in your browser's storage: close the tab, come back later, and your board is still there, on the same device and browser. Nothing is sent to a server. To keep a copy or share it, export it as PNG, which keeps lines perfectly sharp and suits diagrams, or as JPG, which is lighter for sending in a message. The exported image contains the whole drawing, even parts outside the current view, at double resolution. A very busy drawing may exceed the space available in the browser: a message warns you, and exporting still works.
