On Chatzam, the AI model is downloaded to your browser and then cached: the computation happens on your device, and your photos never leave your computer or phone. On a recent computer with WebGPU support, processing is noticeably faster; on a more modest device, it may take a few extra seconds.
Which images work best?
Background removal gives the best results on people, products, animals, and objects that stand out clearly from their background. Very fine details (thin or windswept hair, fur, sheer fabric, transparent objects) can sometimes be imperfect: a plain background and good lighting when you take the photo noticeably improve the result. For an ID photo on a light background, use our “Passport Photo” tool instead; to shrink the resulting file, run it through “Compress Image” or “Resize Image” next.
