What's a good typing speed?
Most people type around 40 words per minute (WPM). Above 60 WPM, you're considered a fast typist, a real asset for administrative, clerical, or data-entry roles. Experienced typists exceed 80 to 100 WPM, and top competitors go well beyond that. Accuracy matters as much as speed: aim for at least 95%, since every mistake you have to fix costs you time.
How to type faster on a keyboard?
Learn to type without looking at the keyboard, using all ten fingers: your index fingers rest on the F and J keys, identifiable by their small raised bumps, and each finger covers its own zone of the keyboard.
