For text, a plate, or a number, go for strong pixelation, with big squares, or the black bar, which replaces the pixels entirely and leaves nothing to reconstruct. For truly sensitive data (credit card number, bank account number, ID number), the black bar remains the safest choice. Before posting, zoom in on the downloaded image to check that nothing is readable anymore.
