Your script and your image stay with you — Your script, settings, camera image and recorded videos stay in your browser: nothing is sent to Chatzam. Only the "Voice-controlled scrolling" option uses the browser's speech recognition: Chrome and Edge then send the audio to Google or Microsoft to turn it into text.

Everything you need to read your script on camera
Speed in words per minute
Set your pace from 60 to 300 words per minute: the rhythm stays right whatever the text size, and the length of your video is calculated in advance.
Mirror and full screen
Flip the text horizontally or vertically for teleprompter glass, and go full screen on a computer, tablet or phone.
Camera and recording
Show your camera behind the text to check your framing, then record the video with sound from your mic and download it.
Voice-controlled scrolling
On a computer, the text can follow your voice: it moves on when you speak and stops when you pause.
A free teleprompter for YouTube, TikTok and video calls
A teleprompter scrolls your script right next to the lens so you can read it while looking at the camera, just like TV news anchors. It's the ideal tool for filming a YouTube video, a Short or a TikTok, a company presentation, a training video, a speech, a pitch or a talk on a video call (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet), without memorizing your lines or glancing down at your notes. This online teleprompter works right in your browser, on a computer, tablet or phone: no app to install, no account to create. Your script and settings are saved in this browser, ready for the next take. On a laptop, place the window at the top of the screen, just below the webcam: your eye line will look natural.
Set the speed, text size and reading line
On camera, most people speak at around 130 to 160 words per minute: start at about 140, then adjust while reading with the up and down arrow keys or the − and + buttons. The time shown under the text gives the length of your future video, handy for hitting exactly one minute on TikTok or YouTube Shorts. Choose a text size you can read without effort from where you sit: the farther you are from the screen, the bigger it should be. Margins narrow the text toward the center, which limits eye movement that would show on camera. The guide line, one third of the way down, shows where to read: keep your eyes level with it. If you lose your place, the space bar pauses, and the left and right arrow keys move the text back or forward.
Mirror mode for teleprompter glass
Professional teleprompters use a beam-splitter glass placed in front of the lens: the screen lies flat, and the text is reflected in the glass, which flips the image. Turn on horizontal mirror so the reflection reads the right way round, and vertical mirror if your rig also flips the image upside down. The same setting works with smartphone and tablet teleprompters that mount in front of a camera. Full screen removes every distraction, including on iPhone, where the teleprompter then fills the whole window. While it's running, the screen won't go to sleep, and the scrolling keeps the right pace even if you switch to another window for a moment.
Read your script on camera and record yourself
Show your camera to see yourself behind the text and check your framing, lighting and eye line. The record button then films the camera with sound from your mic: after the countdown, recording starts at the same time as the scrolling, and you download the video at the end, as MP4 or WebM depending on your browser. Only the camera image is recorded, not the text. The preview is mirrored, like a selfie, but the recorded video is the right way round. The picture and sound stay in your browser. On a computer, the voice-controlled scrolling option moves the text along with your speech using the browser's speech recognition; with Chrome or Edge, the audio then goes through Google's or Microsoft's services.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I use an online teleprompter for free?
Paste your script, set the speed and size, then press ▶: the text scrolls after a 3-second countdown. Everything is free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
What speed should I use on a teleprompter?
Between 130 and 160 words per minute for a video to camera; slower for a measured speech, faster for short, punchy content. Adjust live with the up and down arrow keys.
Does the teleprompter work on a phone?
Yes, on iPhone and Android, in the browser. Full screen, mirror mode, the camera and recording all work too; only voice-controlled scrolling is limited to computers.
Can I record myself while reading the script?
Yes: show your camera, then press "Record". The video, with sound from your mic, starts with the scrolling, and you download it at the end. The text does not appear in the video.
How do I make the text scroll with my voice?
On a computer, with Chrome, Edge or Safari, check "Voice-controlled scrolling" and choose the language of your script: it moves on when you speak and stops when you go quiet.
Are my script and my image sent to a server?
No: the text stays in your browser, and the camera image is never uploaded. Only the voice-controlled scrolling option uses the browser's speech recognition, which sends the audio to Google or Microsoft in Chrome and Edge.
